"This was a major breach of trust. We have a basic responsibility to protect people's data. If we can't do that, we don't deserve to have the opportunity to serve people." These were Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg's words after public revelations that Cambridge Analytica had collected the personal information of tens of millions of Facebook users without their consent. However, almost a year after the revelations, the company's failure to protect users' privacy has only become more evident.
In a video entitled "Kenyan perspectives on digital privacy", APC member Kenya ICT Action Network (KICTANet) addresses what privacy means in the digital age. Is privacy a concern for mobile phone users in Africa? How important is it to raise awareness about this issue?
