Rudi International is proud to announce the holding of the 5th edition of its annual conference, the "Conference on Human Rights in the Digital Age in the DRC", also known as "HakiConf". This unique event, which will take place in Kinshasa this year, the capital city of the Democratic Republic of Congo, is scheduled for 28-29 November 2024 and will serve as a platform for important discussions on digital rights in the context of technological transformation.
HakiConf is the first event of its kind in the DRC and Francophone Africa. It provides a space for dialogue between civil society actors, policy and legislative decision-makers, representatives of the private sector and human rights activists. Since its creation in 2018 in Goma, HakiConf has been raising awareness of issues related to internet access, freedom of expression, privacy and the protection of personal data, among others.
This year's event is of strategic importance as it will bring together various stakeholders, including members of the government, MPs and senators, diplomats and international organisations. Discussions will focus on the challenges facing the Congolese community at the intersection of technology and human rights, with a particular focus on the digital rights of people living with disabilities. Being an international event, international delegates are also expected.
An invitation is extended to local, national and international media to cover this event and contribute to the promotion of human rights in the digital age. An invitation is further extended to any entity (public or private) that wishes to present itself as a champion in the sector.
