Korean Progressive Network Jinbonet is a non-governmental organisation founded in 1998 in South Korea. "Jinbo" means "progressive" in Korean. Jinbonet aims to support the growth of civil society activity and communication by providing network services such as web hosting, email, blogs and mailing lists to civil society organisations, trade unions, individuals and progressive projects.
Jinbonet is also an advocate for human rights in the information society, especially the rights to communication, free speech and privacy, through various activities responding to the threats of government and market powers, such as resident registration systems in Korea, online content regulation, surveillance using ICT like CCTV, bio databases, and location tracing. Jinbonet is also involved in intellectual property policies, media convergence and the open access/open content movement to promote access to knowledge and media democracy.
