Julian Felipe Latorre Ochoa is a young campesino born in Bogotá who earned an undergraduate degree in mechatronics engineering and systems and computer engineering from the National University of Colombia and a master’s degree in telecommunications engineering from the same university. He is an active member and junior researcher with the Society, Economy and Productivity (SEPRO) research group, as well as the TLÖN research group on telecommunications systems and distributed languages at the National University of Colombia, with wide experience in scientific research and university teaching. At the same time, he has significant experience in popular education and community work, as the co-founder of the Agricultural Popular Education Network and the non-profit organisation Surcos, which have participated in various social-technological initiatives and projects aimed at improving the well-being of the rural sector, including campesino, Afrodescendent and Indigenous communities. He has recently become involved in community development projects in the technology and communications areas at the PCN.
