The objective of capacity-building grants is to enhance the capacity of individuals, networks and organisations in South and Southeast Asia to counter hate speech online on the basis of religion.
Available grants
1. Conducting a workshop to develop skills for identifying hate speech and engaging in counter-speech in Bangladesh, India or Indonesia.
Three grants available for conducting workshops in the three countries. Applicants can propose to hold a workshop in one of these three countries: Bangladesh, India or Indonesia.
These workshops must help participants to understand organised hate speech campaigns and uncover the core message in these incidents that resonate with other individuals and the motives and networks that drive proponents of hate. Participants trained in these workshops should be able to use findings from the research produced through this action and collaborate with artists to counter hate speech using skills they learn in these workshops.
Amount available: USD 12,500 for each grant.
2. Conducting training workshops on holistic security in Bangladesh or India.
Two grants available for conducting workshops in the two countries. Applicants can propose to hold a workshop in one of these two countries: Bangladesh or India.
The applicants should work with expert holistic security trainers to build the capacity of individuals and organisations taking part in campaigns and other activities countering hate speech. The training should ultimately build the capacity of individuals and groups to ensure their physical, psychological, digital and organisational security.
Amount available: USD 6,500 for each grant.
3. Other capacity-building activity
The applicant may propose any other capacity-building activity that they are interested in carrying out as long as it relates to the thematic area of focus and countries of focus in the project.
