The Centre for Communication Governance at National Law University (Delhi) has launched a report on Hate Speech Laws in India. The report maps hate speech laws in India, discusses the legal standards and covers a range of cases, from book bans to internet shutdowns. 

This report is an effort to map hate speech laws in India, and attempts to offer a clear overview to anyone interested in the regulation of hate speech in India. It discusses the spectrum of laws, including the specific legal standards developed by the courts, applicable to hate speech in India. It also analyses the relationship between these laws and the constitutional right to freedom of speech and expression. The laws discussed range from the primary criminal laws to specific statutes that regulate speech in the context of elections, or advertisements.
