The internet and other information and communication technologies (ICTs) have both negative and positive impacts on the Earth and the environment. Among the negative, e-waste has been named as “the fastest growing menace on Earth.” How can we mitigate these effects, while enhancing a responsible, sustainable use of digital technologies?
Building on our history of emerging from green movements and our hands-on approach to technology, the Association for Progressive Communications is launching an initiative to address these urgent issues: #EcoThursday.
We are inviting journalists to join us every Thursday on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram around the #EcoThursday hashtag. You will have the chance to interact with academics, technologists, environmentalists and others interested in how to promote environmental justice and preservation of the Earth through digital technologies.
