Jean Louis Fendji

Jean Louis Fendji holds a PhD from the University of Bremen in Germany since 2015. His PhD work was focused on how to turn community telecentres into community networks in Cameroon. He is currently working with organisations such as GIZ on the design and the deployment of community networks in rural areas in Cameroon. As Research Director on Digital Innovation and Internet Rights at AfroLeadership, with the support of Internews, he recently conducted a study on internet connectivity in Cameroon that will be extended to other francophone countries.

Besides network deployment and measurement, he is also designing and developing innovative digital services for rural communities mainly in education and agriculture, using artificial intelligence. Moreover, Jean Louis Fendji is a senior lecturer at the University of Ngaoundéré in Cameroon, teaching various courses ranging from telematics to mobile application development. Since 2020, he is a member of the Program Committee of the Summit on Community Networks in Africa. He stands for a better internet in francophone Africa.
