The fourteenth session of the Commission on Science and Technology for Development (CSTD) will be held in Geneva from 23 to 27 May 2011.

The Commission will address two of its priority themes within the framework of its multi-year work programme, namely:

1. Technologies to address challenges in areas such as agriculture and water
2. Measuring the impact of information and communications technology for development.

The Commission will also review the progress made in the implementation of the outcomes of the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS). This will include consideration of improvements to the Internet Governance Forum (IGF).

In addition, the Commission will hear presentations on national science, technology and innovation policy reviews. The participants will include representatives of Governments, civil society, the private sector and international organizations.

The session will open at 10 a.m. on Monday, 23 May 2011, in room XIX of the Palais des Nations. The first day will consist of an opening ceremony and two ministerial roundtables:

1. Review of progress made in the implementation of WSIS outcomes, held in the morning.
2. Harnessing science and technology to address development challenges, held in the afternoon.

On the second day, the Commission will discuss the report of the working group on improvements to the IGF.

AHM Bazlur Rahman-S21BR, Chief Executive Officer of Bangladesh NGOs Network for Radio & Communication (BNNRC) will join the fourteenth session of the Commission on Science and Technology for Development (CSTD)
