Colnodo, APC’s member in Bogotá, in association with the Colombian Confederation of Non-governmental Organisations, launches “avanza” (meaning “advance” or “move forward” in English), a website for Colombian development. “avanza” is part of a worldwide program led by the Development Gateway Foundation.

The main objective of “avanza” is to design and operate a knowledge management system that allows for the strengthening of relationships between actors, via an information and communication strategy.

The Colombian Development Gateway, “avanza”, is part of a strategy to reduce poverty insofar as it seeks to directly impact factors associated with this issue, such as technology lag, limited access to information and communication, limited access to education and knowledge, and the waning of productive investment in the country.

The Official Launch of “avanza”

The official launching of “avanza” the Colombian country gateway took place on March 4 2004. Cesar Yammal, of the Gateway Foundation and over 80 governmental and non-governmental, national and international, representatives participated in the event.

We appreciate the support of the delegates and civil servants of the UNDP, FAO, Presidency of the Republic, Colciencias, Colombia on line (Colombia en linea), the Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry of Social Protection, DANSOCIAL, the Colombian Vice-presidency of the Republic, OEI and GTZ and all the organisations present.

We also thank César Yammal, the Portal Task Manager for his visit to Colombia and for his support during the launch of “avanza” and the multiple meetings with key stakeholders.
