Ian Peter was one of the original founding Directors of APC, and was involved in early internet networks since the mid 1980s.
He maintained a continuing involvement with civil society involvement in internet issues, and was a co-coordinator of the Internet Governance Caucus and the first Chair of the Civil Society Coordination Group (CSCG) – a coalition of coalitions involved in internet governance issues, of which APC is a member. Ian maintained an internet history site at www.nethistory.info, and was also involved as a guest lecturer with Diplo Foundation in Geneva on training courses on internet technology and policy. He maintained an active interest in issues such as cybersecurity and cyberwarfare.
